Description: Job Title Product Manager- State Assessment Kaplan Division K12 Learning Services City New York State/Province New York FT/PT Full Time Job Level Director Required Working Hours Days Job Description About Kaplan K12 Learning Services Kaplan K12 Learning Services partners with schools and districts to provide high-quality instructional programs that improve results and help all students achieve. A division of Kaplan Test Prep and Kaplan Inc., Kaplan K12 works closely with our school partners to build proficiency in reading and mathematics, improve performance on state tests, and increase college opportunities. The K12 division is a fast paced and rapidly growing part of Kaplans business. Summary: Reporting to the VP of Marketing and Product Management, the Product Manager for State Assessment Programs will be responsible for marketplace success of K12 programs designed to help students improve performance on state mandated assessments. Owns overall product strategy, works with sales, product development teams, and senior management to ensure strategy will be executed effectively. Serves as primary link between curriculum/product development, engineering (if applicable), marketing, implementation, proposal and sales functions. Main Responsibilities:

* Serves as product owner for the state assessment group of K12 products, responsible for decisions involving pricing, terms of sale, customization, discounting, bundling, etc. * Develops and implements strategic growth plans for specified product group including market analysis and short- and long-term revenue and OI targets. * Responsible for developing the business case for new products within the designated group-owns the ROI analysis and gets specific, measurable commitments from all parties involved (e.g. sales quotas, development timetables, etc.) to ensure that new products will be successful. * Provides direction to product development team on ongoing basis to ensure that products meet customer needs in identified K12 markets * Oversees product launch process, to ensure effective & timely information sharing between product development, marketing, sales, operations and implementation teams. * Trains K12 sales teams on how to understand, position, and effectively sell specific products, including strategies for winning in competitive situations. * As needed for significant opportunities, joins K12 sales reps and/or sales management on sales calls or product presentations to help win business. * Works with internal and external marketing staff to generate key messages used in development of sales collateral and promotions; provides guidance (targeting, timing, etc.) on marketing campaigns. * Works with research team as needed on data collection, analysis and reporting on K12 programs to ensure a strong, persuasive evidential base of our programs effectiveness. * Maintains feedback loop with national implementation team to ensure that qualitative and anecdotal data on our customers use of K12 programs is fed back into product development.

Qualifications:

* 5+ years experience in product management/marketing of K-12 programs or combination of k-12 and comparable industry experience. * Business acumen-demonstrated ability to set priorities, focus on achievement of specific goals, and drive toward successful achievement of those goals. * Entrepreneurial mindset-demonstrated ability to "roll up sleeves" and get the job done when faced with a shortage of resources. * Superior Problem-Solving skills. * Leadership-ability to provide direction to multiple teams and individuals in the organization, even in the absence of positional authority over those persons.
