Description Johnson & Johnson Consumer & Personal Products Worldwide, a member of Johnson & Johnson’s Family of Companies, is recruiting for a Principal Engineer, Package Development, located in New York City to support Neutrogena brand Cosmetic product lines. The Neutrogena product line includes mascaras, lipsticks, foundations, face powders, compacts and all other Makeup packages. The Principal Engineer, Package Development supports the Neutrogena brand business for the Johnson & Johnson Global Packaging organization that is part of the Global Strategic Design Office. This position will execute and lead critical new product development packaging or process related projects. Individuals in these positions are high-level to mid-level professionals who have a diversified wealth of knowledge of technical principles and practices in broad areas, often serving as team leaders on critical projects. The Principal Engineer will have the ability to apply intensive and diversified knowledge of technical principles and practices. They will work independently with the ability to innovate new methodology and/or technology. Function independently and provide critical business advice/information to organizational leaders to leverage findings for business growth opportunities. The Principal Engineer must have the ability to manage complexity, plan and organize projects, driving across multiple subject areas, defining scope, range, and problem resolution methods/techniques. Risk taking and decision making are critical components of the role in helping determine project success relative to technical problems and/or the resolution of critical issues. The Principal Engineer will often participate in and lead cross-functional project teams as the project leader.
Qualifications Candidates must have a minimum of a Bachelors degree, preferably in Packaging, Engineering, or a related discipline, and 4 years of packaging experience. An MS in Engineering and 6-8 years of packaging experience is an asset. Packaging Engineering degree is an asset. Primary Packaging development experience is required. Consumer products packaging experience is an asset. Packaging experience with mascara, lipstick, and compacts is a strong asset. Project Management experience is an asset. The individual is required to be proficient in Microsoft MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). It is highly desired that the candidate have training, certification and/or education in Process Excellence (Yellow Belt, Green Belt, Black Belt). The individual must be able to take a leadership role to influence and interface with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment, have excellent communication skills to effectively manage and negotiate cost improvements, work without direction and create a pipeline of packaging projects designed to drive cost improvements. It is an asset for the candidate to have experience with packaging technical support, packaging compliance and packaging optimization. Travel up to 25%% is required and will mainly be domestic.
