NY1 signed on in the fall of 1992 from its newsroom on Manhattans West 42nd Street. As it approached its tenth anniversary, the station moved into a new state-of-the-art facility in the historic Chelsea Market building in January of 2002. Posting Job Title NY 1 News- Producer, New Media TimeWarner Division Time Warner Cable Industry Cable and Telecommunications Services Location United States - New York - New York Requisition # 106328BR Position Type Full Time Posting Job Description SUMMARY Job Summary: Oversees production of all editorial content on NY1.com, the website of NY1 News. Chooses on-air stores to publish to site in order to provide a comprehensive, balanced, accurate and objective picture of all newsworthy events. Edits TV news scripts into print-style (newspaper format) stories, encodes accompanying video clips and selects still images to accompany stories. Coordinates work of additional web staffers to ensure that the site is always up to date. Assists Executive Producer with overall operation and maintenance of site and related technical components. Oversees occasional special editorial projects as required. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES Job Duties: Production . Responsible for overall editorial content on NY1.com, the website of NY1 News. . Makes key decisions on what stories are published, how theyre edited, and in what editorial order theyre presented. . Coordinates coverage with TV producers and assignment editors, and attends daily editorial staff meetings. . Operates suite of software that includes ENPS electronic newsroom system, web content management system, and computer-based video encoding and image capture applications. . Reviews content of news stories and checks for errors of fact, technical errors, creative content, miscues, editorial mistakes and all elements needed to deliver a consistent online news product. . Produces special editorial content and expanded special sections on an as-needed basis. . Maintains highest degree of quality and ethical standards in presentation of material. Editorial . Handles publication of text, video and images to site using online publishing tools and other computer programs. . Uses editing skills to turn TV scripts into print-style (newspaper format) stories for both spot news and feature material. . Creates original web stories in breaking news situations. . Ensures that quality work is produced. . Keeps informed on current issues by reading newspapers and wires, and monitoring wheels on NY1. Supervision (non-management) . Monitors the work of web writers as appropriate. . Troubleshoots publishing tools and processes as required. . Sets and maintains quality standards. Other duties as assigned. Bachelors Degree, preferably in Journalism/Communication /English or related field. General Liberal Arts is acceptable. Experience: . Minimum 2 years experience in news writing, reporting or production, preferably 1 year experience as a TV news producer/AP or print editor. . Familiarity with Internet publishing workflow, including experience with a content management system, image editing software, FTP tools, rudimentary HTML. . Familiarity with online video editing tools and rudimentary knowledge of video encoding and streaming. . Experiencing covering news, preferably NYC news. . Some life experience in NYC. .
