Available exclusively on Time Warner Cable, NY1 covers the citys five boroughs with more than 40 full-time reporters. NY1 signed on in the fall of 1992 from its newsroom on Manhattans West 42nd Street. As it approached its tenth anniversary, the station moved into a new state-of-the-art facility in the historic Chelsea Market building in January of 2002. With an integrated, all-digital production system and more than 600 hours of computer-based video storage, the facility represents one of the most advanced newsgathering operations in the world. NY1 expanded into New York Citys Latino community by launching the citys first 24-hour Spanish-language newschannel, NY1 Noticias in June 2003. Strong research and communication skills and ability to multi-task a must. Spanish fluency a must. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES
News Research: . Researches story data, summarizes and enters data into PC. . Maintains PC data files and keeps them up to date as new information develops. . Is available to staff on an as needed basis to provide research information. . Keeps up to date on current events through various sources, such as media, newspapers, radio, etc. . Confirms news stories by researching and calling sources, interviewing and verifying information. . Listens to fire, police, EMS scanners, and is able to interpret codes and notify desk of breaking news. . Provides up-to-date information to Assignment Desk on breaking stories or other story information in data bank. . Researches and pitches stories relevant to NY1 Noticias viewers. Staff Support: . Assists Planning Manager by researching new information, keeping editor up to date with new developments, confirming stories and updating records. . Assists reporters by setting up and scheduling interviews and providing details of pre-interviews. . Assists producers and writers by keeping them up to date on developing stories and changing information. . Answers phone lines, screens calls and identifies potential stories for NY1 Noticias.

EDUCATION
