Description: Responsibilities for the Nurse Epidemiologist/ Infection Control include:

- Reviewing daily microbiological reports for possible nonsocomial infections and/or communication disease
- Analyzing infection control data and establish baseline endemic infection rates as well as identification of clusters of infection, hyperendemic rates or outbreaks of infection
- Participating in orientation and training programs on infection control
- Reporting communicable diseases to the department of health
- Revising infection control policies/procedures based on acceptable scientific practices
- Developing and maintains the infection control manual and OSHAs bloodborne pathogen exposure control plan and respiratory protection plan
- Suggesting or recommend new or revised patient care practices, assist in the development of necessary policies/procedures and participate in their implementation
- Identify actual or potential problems in the correct implementation of infection prevention and control and assist in problem solving
- Evaluate patient care practices for effectiveness and application to infection control
- Assist other departments and clinical services to identify and integrate infection control principles and practices
- Performing HIV pre and post test counseling for inpatients
- Serving as coordinator for HIV results to outpatient clinics and satellite clinics

Required Skills: 2+ years of nursing experience with a strong background in bacteriology and epidemiology
- Valid Registered Nurses license
- Certified Infection Control
- Valid RN license
- Bachelors degree in Nursing
