Position Description The Strategic Account Manager (SAM) provides strategic market management and sales leadership to the Field Sales Teams, with focus on driving sales of Physio-Controls products, services and solutions across all business segments within prioritized metropolitan statistical areas (MSAs). The SAM must implement SAS/Siebel initiatives, at the mastery level, to develop long-term relationships in the markets of responsibility, along with those major strategic sales opportunities created. The SAM works closely with all levels of management to enhance Physio-Controls image, relationships with industrys key opinion leaders, and ability to analyze situations, develop and maintain market focused business and strategic opportunity plans. Position Responsibilities . Assume primary leadership for the design, development, and implementation for all market development and sales opportunity plans in assigned target MSAs. Maintain responsibility for developing strategy and associated action plans to ensure positive long-term outcomes for Physio-Control. . Develop and maintain strong relationships with territory representatives and field management that enable the collaborative efforts to be utilized to maximize our effectiveness in key Physio-Control markets. . Develop and maintain long-term relationships with key opinion leaders and buying influences in assigned MSAs. . Observe, monitor and report changes in key opportunity parameters via utilization of the Siebel customer relationship management tool, in a timely manner, to ensure opportunity visibility to all levels of the organization. . Act as the key management resource for field sales management in strategic market management, key opportunities management and forecasting. . Develop best practices for strategic account management and act as a mentor to field associates. . Perform other leadership related duties as assigned. . Achieve targets for sales, expense controls, average selling price targets, account/market penetration, business retention and win/loss ratio. . Develop an annual Market (business) Development plan. Updated on a quarterly basis including plans by product and action plans to capitalize on new opportunities within the territory. . Use all available resources (including marketing managers, sales support, engineers, finance, peers, etc.) to develop effective market/account strategies and capitalize on key sales opportunities. . Attend trade shows and sales meetings as needed. . Communicate, model, and monitor conformance to company ethical standards of conduct. . Maintain up-to-date profiles on all target markets, and strategic sales opportunities within SIEBEL. . Submit accurate, timely, and complete reports and paperwork regarding field activities and results, market updates, forecasts, funnel management, expense reports, etc . Identify customer, competitor, and other territory issues and communicate same to appropriate personnel. Working Conditions . Reports to National Manager, Strategic and Government Account Sales. . Pricing discount decision within authority limit. . Decides appropriate resource requirements to ensure success on key business opportunities. . Establishes/sets strategy for assigned MSAs. Basic Qualifications . Minimum of five (5) years field sales/sales management in the medical field. . Minimum of three (3) years of sales/sales management to the hospital and/or pre-hospital market. . Minimum of three (3) years of sales/sales management of capital expenditure goods. . Minimum of two (2) years experience of successful selling to large hospital systems and/or Fire/EMS systems. . A four (4) year degree in technical science, business discipline or related discipline. . Demonstrated record of success with progressive growth. . Demonstrated effective sales leadership experience. . Experience working in a fast paced continually changing environment. . Demonstrated experience building and maintaining high performance environments and the ability to obtain results through others. . Demonstrated ability to create and manage accurate forecasts. . Ability to work with all levels of an organization. . Prior experience in implementing strategic plans. . Demonstrated excellent presentations skills . Strong command of both written and verbal communication skills . Ability to influence others . Possess a strong commitment to company values. Desired/Preferred Qualifications . MBA .
