Responsible for the administration and engineering functions required to manage, maintain and support Thomson%%27s global SMTP services, specifically Unix SendMail and supporting systems and applications., as well as the Lyris email list hosting application. Duties and responsibilities: * Setting up and maintaining Sendmail servers. * Troubleshooting and resolving Sendmail problems * Working with the Messaging teams to manage and support messaging services for Thomson%%27s global environment (32,000 users). * Ensuring integrity and stability of the SMTP environment, including updating of anti-virus, anti-spam, and service packs. * Management and Support of SMTP services including LDAP, Sendmail, anti-spam, anti-virus. * Management and Support of Lyris email list hosting application. * Assisting in the management and support of Exchange 2003 servers and connectors. * Maintaining Directory Services, OWA, routing and transports. * Maintaining and supporting third party applications including Trend Anti-Virus suite, Blackberry wireless, and RightFax. * Troubleshooting and resolving Tier II and III service desk requests following established protocol and procedures. * Documenting the environment and maintaining operational procedures.!*! * 4-year college degree required. * Expert knowledge of Sendmail, LDAP, and Linux/Solaris systems. * Strong Messaging Experience with Internet Email infrastructures. * Hands on experience setting up and configuring Sendmail systems. * Strong knowledge in troubleshooting Internet email deliveries and auditing. * Experience in Enterprise wide deployment of SMTP backbone. * Experience administering/designing enterprise-wide anti-spam and anti-virus solutions. * Clear understanding of messaging standards of SMTP/X400. * Knowledge of Exchange 2003. * Experience with Veritas Netbackup, HP Openview/ITO Monitoring. * Strong critical thinking and analytical skills. * Excellent customer service and communication skills. * Must be able to work independently or with a team, under minimum supervision. * Must be able to plan, organize, and prioritize work schedule. * Willingness to work off-hours and weekends as required and be on an on-call rotation schedule. Additional Desired Skills * Experience with Ironport email appliances * Experience with Lyris ListManager * Experience with Mailstream Manager * Scripting abilities, preferably with Perl.
