Description: Merchandiser Full Time Regular posted 09/05/2008 New York, NY Requirements The Merchandiser affects the success of the departmental business through driving seasonal business strategies that meet or exceed the departments financial goals. Builds and executes a collection that is consistently brand specific. Responsibilities include: Partners with Merchandise Manager and Vice President to execute departmental financial objectives and accountabilities. -Provides clear and timely communication ensuring that the cross functional team is aligned toward a common goal -Provides analysis to support the development of departmental seasonal strategies that meet financial targets, including promotional strategies -In collaboration with CFT, provides information and ideas to develop key concepts and key items -Develops seasonal framework -style and sku count by fabrication for future season -Builds a balanced assortment that meets the wardrobing needs of the client -Coordinates line across merchandising departments -Partners with Production on achieving IMU targets and in-store deliveries -Participates in fitting garments and review of product details to ensure product execution meet client expectations -Recommends product/price positioning based on past performance and market trend -Identifies business opportunities and risks through analyzing sales performance -Partners with Planning and Store Planning to develop investment and allocation strategy -Continually monitors in-store environment via store visits and associate/client feedback. Executes testing and chase strategies -Manages open-to-buy via seasonal tools (i.e. - seasonal framework, receipt reconciliation, line planners) People Management: -Responsible for the selection, development and retention of team members -Mentors, coaches and counsels direct reports on performance expectations -Provides a positive, challenging work environment -Recognizes and rewards talent and accomplishments Position Requirements: -Bachelors degree, or equivalent, with 2 - 5 years experience in Merchandising (all or part in Sweaters) -Ability to take analysis into action, executes to timelines and provides timely solutions -Outstanding leadership abilities and ability to influence others across functions; build support and engagement -Strong analytical skills and clear understanding of financial measurements and how to impact them -Outstanding verbal and written communication skills -Strong decision making capabilities; strong point of view and negotiation skills -Strong fashion sense with a sense of brand and client needs -Demonstrate the organizational ability to facilitate multi-tasking in a fast-pace environment -Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications
