Position Description This position will be located in Expedias New York City office and the successful applicant will be managing the hotel relationships and developing the product offered for one of Expedias highest producing markets. The objective of the Market Manager is to own New York Citys profitability through the acquisition and the management of inventory, rates and supplier relationships. This position requires interaction with external suppliers, daily interactions with the team, plus various departments and teams within Expedia Inc. and its subsidiaries. The Market Manager duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to: .Prospect new hotels and negotiate contracts ensuring competitive rates, allotments and cut offs. .Build and maintain productive relationships with Hotel General Managers, Sales and Marketing and Revenue Management personnel in the assigned markets. .Negotiate directly with hotel management to obtain favorable room allocations, rates, and additional inventory during compressed periods. .Represent Expedias full suite of product offerings to supply partners. .Work with other Expedia teams to build strong market presence, effective merchandising, significant demand, and attractive value propositions. .Periodically review rates against accommodation/place availability. .Periodically evaluate the Companys suppliers. .Analyze the markets competition. .Provide training to suppliers with respect to software and other technological resources developed by the Company, including the use of software, internet and intranet. .Author actionable business plan to achieve revenue goals. .Navigate internal systems and troubleshoot issues with other Expedia groups. .Provide direction and guidance to Market Coordinators. Requirements / Qualifications: .College Degree required, Master degree preferred. .Previous experience with International Tour Operation or Hotels preferred. .Understanding of the NYC market; its seasonality, product and demographics as well as established contacts in the market is preferred. .Experience analyzing and interpreting financial metrics to drive revenue. .Strong analytical, organization, communication and people skills. .Working knowledge of revenue/account management. .Team leader and team player. .Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint. .Ability to build and maintain strong and long term relationships. .Ability to work and thrive in a multi-tasked and fast-paced environment. .Professional "get it done" attitude and work ethic.
