Description: Manager Pitching & Tendering Area of Interest: Marketing Location: New York, NY Req #: dlap-00000776-B Description: DLA Piper, a leader in the practice of law worldwide, seeks a Manager for their Pitching & Tendering Team. This position is responsible for working with advisors to develop strategic and creative best practice guidelines for the pitching process including intelligence gathering, audience analysis, client/project need analysis, perception analysis and key message development. Provides strategic guidance for RFP responses, proposals and pitches and interfaces with firm lawyers, team members, marketing managers and client development executives to ensure successful outcomes Duties include: -Works with international counterparts as well as with marketing and business development personnel and members of assembled legal teams to advance business development initiatives and achieve the growth objectives for the firm

-Under the guidance of the Sr. Manager, refines and grows a full suite of global RFP response and proposal materials, including historic responses and core materials related to the firms legal practices and the specific industries and sectors we serve.

-Oversees the pitch and proposal tracking process, including follow-up with lawyers to capture results, analyze the results, and develop best practices for future opportunities based on the analyses

-Assists in maintenance and updates of frequently used collaterals, including practice descriptions and experience lists

-Writes, edits and maintains effective, compelling, and consistent written materials for use in the firms marketing and business development initiatives.

-Works with advisors to develop strategic and creative best practice guidelines for the pitching process including intelligence gathering, audience analysis, client/project need analysis, perception analysis and key message development.

-Contributes and assists in the development of knowledge management systems, including the development of firmwide marketing database transactions and matters databases and electronic library of pitch components

-Manages and reviews market, industry and client research for briefing packages. Supervises pitch process, including participating in strategy session, writing proposals, rehearsing for pitch meetings and ensuring best practices as used firmwide Qualifications: Requirements: Bachelors Degree in Marketing, Communications or related discipline. Graduate degree preferred. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of degree requirement. Five to seven years of pitching and tendering experience preferably in the legal or other professional services industry. Must have some management-level experience. Demonstrated leadership, organizational and team-management skills, including outstanding project management and staff supervisory skills required. Should be client service-focused and detailed-oriented with excellent communications skills. The ability to multi-task and thrive in a fast-paced environment is critical. Strong client service orientation and ability to establish immediate credibility with firm attorneys is essential. Must have good judgment and decision-making skills and have a team-first orientation.
