Description: * Responsible for merchandising deliverables for assigned categories. * Assist Sr. Merchandiser or Director to successfully plan product direction. * Manage the development of assortments for international franchise and wholesales customers. * Understand worldwide brand concepts, flow strategy, key messages and marketing ideas. * Align assortments with brand positioning and collection-driven point of view for assigned categories. * Integrate commercial feedback and regional needs into assortment. * Responsible for analysis and interpretation of competitive market trend information and customer feedback. * Responsible for analysis and interpretation of all sales reports. * Responsible for consideration of all special store groups such as: flagship, top, premier stores, seasonal accessory shops, etc. * Identify both shared and individual market needs (using QSA, hindsight info, roadmap) and ensure that cross-functional partners are all working towards the same end goal. * Present fast sell (top seller) styles to cross-functional partners at key selling periods using TOP samples to analyze sales trend and future opportunities. * Provide current competitor information through competitive shopping and on-line research. * Partner with directly owned stores merchants and franchise regional sales teams to identify market-specific GAP brand filter. * Help ensure a successful pipeline execution. * Understand market needs and analysis presented during hind sighting. * Obtain and manage samples for assigned area. * Monitor major line changes, recommend assortment adjustments and communicate changes to other cross-functional partners for assigned area. * Attend key product presentations and negotiations for assigned categories. * Owner of merchant communication/coordinator of inter department communication. * Responsible for organizing samples of top 5/classifcation and archiving them. * Responsible for capturing visuals of landed lines by market at adoption and archiving them. * Assist in the execution of the seasonal sales campaigns * Recommend “required” part of the assortment for assigned categories. * Recommend suggested retail pricing for franchise and wholesale customers down to the style level for assigned categories; ensure that Gap Inc margin targets are achieved * Enter required data into the data management system in advance of sales campaign so that orders can be accepted and processed * Gather data for line list preparation for assigned categories. * Review orders to identify issues related to commercial balance and provide analysis and recommendations to Director. * Assist with training freelance sales force and Franchise/ Wholesale Sales team on the collections. * Communicate seasonal assortment to directly owned stores’ merchants and wholesale/franchise clients. * Partner with marketing/visual merchandising to communicate seasonal direction for a given season. * Work with visual to create effective showroom presentations * Responsible for pre-booking (ranking styles and suggesting estimated units to book in advance of market) * Training Sales team to present and sell products during market week * Participate in fit and detail meeting when necessary * 5 - 7 years of experience in fashion/retail, preferably in men’s merchandising. * Wholesale experience preferred. * College education required; bachelors degree preferred. * Broad understanding of retail business. * Product knowledge and understanding of brand positioning. * Posses a clear understanding of financial measurements and how to impact them. * Experience with gross margin, pricing and trend analysis. * Consistently communicate in a clear and timely manner — in person, via phone and e-mail. * Strong presentation and negotiation skills. * Demonstrate the organizational ability to facilitate multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment. * Exceptional attention to detail. * Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook. * Requires strong organizational, merchandising and communication abilities. * Attending late night or early morning global conference calls might be required. * Available some weekends and/or evenings. * Ability to transport and maneuver merchandise. * Ability and willingness to travel to any countries you are designated to travel to by your job duties or by your manager.
