Provide IT technical support either in person or by phone and ensure all issues are resolved through to completion.
The duties of the position are as follows:
Start and monitor tape backups
Respond to calls escalated by Help Desk --
a) Diagnose cause of problem as described
b) Apply appropriate solution
c) Document solution in the help desk ticket and then close the ticket
Monitor overall health of servers --
a) Check for drive failures; replace dead drive with new drive of appropriate size and speed
b) Check for error messages or alerts on console; take appropriate action
c) Check System and Application error logs; note any problems reported; take appropriate action
Monitor overall status of e-mail traffic; note any problems; take appropriate action
Perform miscellaneous tasks as may be requested from time to time, e.g. *
a) Configuring printers
b) Setting up new user setups / disabling departed users
c) Assigning users to security or routing groups
d) Modifying or applying trustee rights to server directories
e) Rebooting servers
f) Setting up workstations in lab or live environment
g) Building new servers for lab or live environment
h) Applying security patches or other updates to servers and workstations
The candidate should exhibit satisfactory knowledge in the following areas:
Active Directory
Group Policies, including application distribution
Filesite/Desksite/iManage/Interwoven
Lotus Notes 6.5
Visual Basic Scripting as it is commonly used in logon scripts
Windows Server 2003 and Windows XP operating systems
Veritas tape backup
SAN and clustering
Microsoft SQL versions 7 and 2000
Microsoft Exchange
Microsoft Office suite, especially Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
