This IT group is part of Shared Services Enablement and is responsible for designing, building, and implementing a Java-based Investment Management System to handle company investments exceeding $20B in total.

Responsibilities: .Demonstrates/applies knowledge of application modeling, design and development .Develops time estimates for project deliverables .Provides alternative solutions and technical expertise across a range of applications, systems and/or technologies .Collaborates with end users and project team members on development of requirements and design of applications .Collaborates with analysts and/or users on requirements and design of applications (including testing). .Advise manager of risks, issues, and concerns. .Maintain expertise in technology and development in the J2EE space, as well as other enabling technologies. .Adheres to standards for software development. .Adhere to established process/procedural standards. .Designs and builds integrated systems. .Learn new software tools and skills as needed. .Establish an open relationship with customers, teammates, and other members of the GAI ITServices organization. .Keep open verbal and electronic communications with all areas concerning the reporting and resolution of issues. .Document issues and their resolution in appropriate forums. .Provide accurate and timely management status and time reporting. .Participate with management to complete performance plans and performance results in a timely manner.

Qualifications: Experience: .3-5 years Java (minimum of 3 years experience), HTML, JSP, JSP tag libraries, Java Servlets. .2+ years experience with an RDMS such as Oracle, SQL Server, or UDB; including experience with integration of the database with Java applications. .2+ years of SQL experience. .Firm understanding of Software Architecture, Design Patterns (especially Model View Controller), Middleware, and Web Service concepts. .Knowledge of object-oriented concepts. Skills: .Requires being part of a project team and learning and utilizing new skills. .Requires strong application development skills to implement systems solutions based on requirements. .Requires the ability to elicit additional requirement details from customers. .Requires strong communication and documentation skills from both a business and technology perspective. .Requires excellent customer service and interpersonal skills to work effectively with peers, customers, and third party vendors. .Strong attention to detail and problem solving skills. .Must be self-motivated and take initiative. .Strong organizational skills; ability to meet deadlines. .Proven ability to handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously. .Java skills: Including strong Java development skills (J2EE, J2SE) as well as knowledge of application frameworks (JSF/Spring/Hibernate, Struts) .Strong knowledge of infrastructure and database components of application performance. .Requires prior financial systems experience. .Experience with any the following is a plus: .XML, JAXB, JAXP, Oracle RDMS, CVS, Eclipse .SOFIA .Coding with Informatica and UC4 .Java profiling tools .JVM performance tuning .Unix commands and shell scripting .Apache Tomcat .Prior experience in investment banking and insurance Education: .Bachelors Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science or Information Systems (or equivalent experience).
