Job description These roles are for 2009 starts only. We are looking for entry level information developers/technical writers to develop user information for IBM software products. Applicants need to be proficient in creating clear, task-oriented technical information that meets audience needs. Candidates must have experience in designing and evaluating information, using mark-up languages such as HTML and XML (DITA), and creating topic-based information. Candidates should have an understanding of computer science concepts, usability design principles, and information design. Programming experience including Java, C++, XML, PHP, or PERL is a plus. Information developers in this role will develop the customer information to install, use, and maintain commercial IBM software products. In some cases, the role may involve leading teams, project management, or infrastructure and tooling support. Information developers apply appropriate technical writing, editing, multimedia, visual design and tools skills, as required. They design and develop elements for user interface (UI), web, multimedia delivery, print, and other linear and nonlinear information deliverables. Our ideal candidates must have strong technical as well as communication skills, a passion for technology and software, strong teaming skills and show leadership potential. Must be able to work in a high energy environment and exhibit creative thinking and collaboration. Having the ability to turn ideas into reality, and to work closely with others in teams around the world is essential. Major Field of Study: The most competitive candidates will have a Bachelors or Masters degree in Technical Communication, Professional Writing with an emphasis on Software Documentation, or Computer Science with an emphasis on Technical Communication, or related field.
