More Info United Nations Core Values: Integrity, Professionalism, Respect for Diversity Responsibilities Under the overall guidance of the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Project Director, the ERP Team Leader will manage a team established for one of the following four functional areas of the project: 1) Finance; 2) Supply Chain; 3) Human Resources, and 4) Central Support Services and will perform the following duties and responsibilities:
Lead, supervise and carry out a detailed analysis of key functional processes and related functionalities at the Secretariat, OAHs and peacekeeping operations worldwide; co-ordinate the work carried out by different specialists within each functional team, provide substantive reviews of the drafts prepared by others;
Formulate and implements the substantive work programme for the functional team, oversees the management of activities undertaken by the each team, ensure that programmed activities are carried out in a timely fashion and coordinate work in the different highly specialized areas within each of the ERP Project Team;
Provide expert guidance related to process re-engineering and ensure validation of outcomes by all stakeholders; collaborate in the determination of the functional fit of competing ERP software and the evaluation of inter-operability with existing software.
Contribute to the development and implementation of a change management plan and coordinate the development of relevant user training modules and manuals; co-ordinate and oversees the preparation of reports for his/her specialized team for presentation to intergovernmental bodies such as the Advisory Committee on Administrative and Budgetary Questions, Committee for Programme Coordination, the General Assembly and other policy-making organs, as appropriate.
Report to intergovernmental bodies on budget/programme performance or on programmatic/substantive issues, as appropriate, particularly those presented in the biennial and/or annual reports.
Ensure that the output produced by the functional Service maintain high-quality standards; that reports are clear, objective and based on comprehensive data. Ensure that all output produced under his/her supervision meets required standards and best industry practice before completion to ensure they comply with the relevant mandates.
Assist the Director in preparing the Service work programme, determining priorities, and allocating resources for the completion of outputs and their timely delivery.
Oversees the programmatic/administrative tasks necessary for the functioning of the Service, including preparation of budgets, reporting on budget/programme performance, evaluation of staff performance (PAS), interviews of candidates for job openings, evaluation of candidates and preparation of inputs for results-based budgeting.
Manage, guide, develop and train staff under his/her supervision.
Foster teamwork and communication among staff in the Service, and across organizational boundaries.
Lead and supervise the organization of meetings, seminars on substantive ERP-related matters. Manage the substantive preparation and organization of such meetings and ERP related seminars. Competencies Professionalism - Knowledge of a broad range of issues at policy and operational level pertaining to his/her respective functional area indicated above, and ability to provide technical advise to the Project Director and the project team. Knowledge of the UN rules and regulations and respective administrative systems utilized at the Headquarters offices and in the field.
Planning& Organizing - Ability to effectively develop work plans, direct others in the execution of the project, and ensure timely delivery of results.
Teamwork - Excellent interpersonal skills, including ability to operate effectively across organizational boundaries; ability to establish and maintain effective partnerships and working relationships in a multi-cultural multi-ethnic environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity.
Communications - Strong communication (spoken, written and presentational) skills, including ability to present and defend difficult positions to senior officials.
Leadership - Excellent managerial and technical leadership skills and ability to delegate appropriate responsibility, accountability and decision making authority. Dynamic leadership and proven record of building and managing teams and creating an enabling work environment, including the ability to effective lead, supervise, mentor, develop and evaluate staff and design training/skills enhancement initiatives to ensure effective transfer of knowledge and skills. Provides leadership and takes responsibility for incorporating gender perspectives and ensuring the equal participation of women and men in all areas of work; demonstrates knowledge of strategies and commitment to the goal of achieving gender balance in staffing.
Managing Performance - Proven record of building and managing teams and creating an enabling work environment including ability to effective lead, supervise, mentor, develop and evaluate groups of staff and design training/skills enhancements initiatives to ensure effective transfer of knowledge/skills
Judgment/Decision making - Mature judgment and initiative, imagination, resourcefulness and tact; proven ability to provide strategic direction, to plan and establish priorities, and to ensure an effective work structure to maximize productivity and achieve goals.
QUALIFICATIONS Education Advanced university degree (Masters degree or equivalent) in business administration, human resources management, accounting, information technology, engineering, or related area. A first level university degree in combination with qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. Work Experience A minimum of fifteen years of progressively professional experience in human resources management, administration, supply chain management, logistics, financial management, budget or related field. Experience in more than one office and/or duty station of the UN common system is highly desirable. Experience in handling complex organizational issues is an asset. Languages Fluency in one of the working languages of the UN Secretariat, English or French, (both oral and written) is required; knowledge of the other is desirable. Knowledge of another UN official language is an advantage. Other Skills Knowledge of an existing enterprise resources planing system (ERP), i. e. IMIS or equivalent, content management (ECM) and customer relationship management (CRM) systems highly desirable. Knowledge of other UN applications such Galaxy, UNBIS desirable.
