Description: Enterprise Architects provide application technology leadership and governance, contributing to enterprise-wide standards and shared services for application development and support. This role will be aligned to the Knowledge Management domain and will be expected to lead the technical implementation of Mercer’s Next Generation of Knowledge Management (KM), Employee Self Service and Web 2.0 capabilities. The successful candidate will be responsible for defining and implementing a high-value KM architecture - application and infrastructure - strategy and delivering solutions to meet business needs. The successful candidate will bring significant technical expertise and experience of Information Architecture, Enterprise Search, Knowledge Management, Enterprise Content Management and Portal technology. Hands-on experience with MS Office SharePoint Server 2007 in an enterprise scale deployment will be essential for the success in this role. The Next Generation Knowledge Management implementation will be expected to meet intranet, extranet, collaboration, document management, streaming video, enterprise search and compliance requirements of a complex multinational business. Experience of delivering similarly broad technology programs is highly desirable. The role will require the Enterprise Architect to undertake the following: * Define and implement an architecture vision for the Next Generation KM environment utilizing Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 and other technology to meet business needs * Partner with the business/functions to understand our global business needs relating to Knowledge Management, Employee Self Service * Work with other Enterprise Architects and business technology teams to identify and support cross-business and cross-region (i.e. global) opportunities for reuse, collaboration and standardization to meet business needs * Lead the architectural/solution development of specific architectural components * Identify and execute migration strategies from current environments to a next generation "Web 2.0" environments * Keep current with and report on industry trends relating to "knowledge worker" technology, processes, emerging technologies and best practices * Provide insightful and credible technology advice that balances the functionality, costs and risks of the proposed technologies and maximize business value * Provide consulting and review services. For example, troubleshooting engagements and "due diligence" review services relating to acquisitions, product/service procurement and business case development This role may be based in one of the following locations: * Chicago, Illinois * Deerfield, Illinois * Hoboken, New Jersey * Iowa City, Iowa * Louisville, Kentucky * New York, New York * Enterprise Architecture principles and exposure to EA frameworks and related tools * Proven ability to identify and define the "right solution" and develop pragmatic and practical solutions * Defining and applying technology related standards, process and governance * Experience of enterprise class knowledge management technologies, for example: * Microsoft technologies (MS Office SharePoint Server, .NET, SQL Server) * Enterprise and Desktop search solutions * Enterprise Content Management (including Document Management, Records Management and Web Content Management) * Development methodology and modeling expertise (e.g. MDA, OOD, BPM) * Tools for business intelligence, application management and analytics * Delivery of enterprise-level solutions (global and/or multiple line-of-business) in one or more specific technology domains (e.g. Knowledge Management, ECM, Data Management, Workflow/BPM/BPA) * Experience with ECM products such as Documentum, Filenet, OpenText * Analytical and problem solving capability * Experience in technology leadership roles, for example Enterprise Architect, Application/Integration Architect * Experience in technical roles within an Applications Development environment (either in-house IT or as a consultant) * Strong collaborative skills, ability to coordinate and work collaboratively with remote teams and individuals * Exceptional written, visual and verbal communication and meeting facilitation skills, proven at all levels from developer’s to CxO’s
