Job Description:

EH&S Specialist opportunity located in New York New York Shaw Environmental and Infrastructure, Inc., a subsidiary of The Shaw Group, Inc., is a leading, full-service, environmental and facilities management firm that recognizes that it takes a group of highly talented and motivated individuals working together to achieve the kind of outstanding results we continue to accomplish through technical quality. We are currently seeking the following in our New York, NY office. Duties/Responsibilities: * Works independently to develop, implement and administer the project safety, health, environmental protection,and substance abuse prevention program for Shaw and its subcontractors. * Reviews the construction contractors EH&S Plan for the project and recommends improvements and/or acceptance to the Client. * Monitors construction contractor activities for compliance with the approved plan and industry best practice, and other federal, state, and local codes/regulations. * Responsible for documenting safety inspections, safety permits, and identifying safety issues and taking immediate action. * Provides leadership to junior inspectors. Qualifications: BS preferred or equivalent experience. CSP preferred. Experience in construction safety required. Working in the NYC construction environment preferred. Ability to communicate effectively tocontractors, peers, and clients. Able to solve moderately complex problems and work with staff and contractors to effect a safety culture of voluntary compliance Job Conditions/Environment: Mainly Construction site-based environment, with occassional visits likely.
