A background in news booking is preferred. A degree in journalism is strongly preferred, but not required. Background knowledge in social networking, alternative media, or digital newsgathering preferred but not required. This position requires an ability and willingness to travel on occasion. Duties: The editorial producer is responsible for researching and booking story subjects, guests and celebrity/notable participants throughout the CNN Heroes campaign. Will be responsible for working with all CNN shows and networks to explore cross-promotional news opportunities of any given CNN Hero or aspect of the campaign. Must be able to develop & produce strong guest segments, and effectively communicate all aspects of the segment to producers, writers, and anchors, and planning producers across the network. Must also be able to manage audience and honoree coordination for the CNN Heroes tribute show. Must be able to manage projects from start to finish, be widely read, resourceful, and be willing to work on both domestic and international stories. The Editorial producer is expected to work independently as well as in a team environment, A successful editorial producer must be competitive in his/her thinking while keeping in mind the needs of all CNN programs across the newsgroup.
