Description: Job Title Editor, Commercial Clearance Auto req ID 757BR CBS Business Unit CBS Television Network Division/Station Television Network Department Program Practices Location New York - New York Job Description Review and approve commercials, program materials and public-service announcements to ensure compliance with guidelines before they are air on the Television Network. Determine parental information guideline labels. Advise the CBS owned television stations on commercial and program clearance issues. RESPONSIBILITIES * Review, screen and evaluate commercials (including scripts, storyboards and tapes) to ensure compliance with the CBS program standards, federal guidelines and corporate practices. * Communicate, in writing and by phone, with ad agencies on commercial issues (including requests for substantiation and negotiations for revisions in audio/visual segments). * Report to and consult with the SVP concerning questionable broadcast material elements. * Notify in writing and verbally other departments of special elements which are likely to impact those areas. * Consult with the Research Department on testing sent in support of commercial claims. * Where appropriate, consult with the CBS Law department on legal issues raised by broadcast material (e.g.: FCC regulations, indecency, trade libel, etc). * Heavy phone contact with clients, producers and viewers. * If assigned, travel to locations to view broadcast events, run-throughs, tapings and screenings.

Required Skills/Experience

* 2-3 years of commercial clearance/standards and practices work experience in the television, cable or advertising industry. * Excellent communication (both writing and verbal), editorial and proof-reading skills. * Skilled at negotiation and persuasion; ability to be articulate, tactful and diplomatic. * Knowledge of film, television and/or commercial practices and techniques. * Ability to stay calm under significant pressure; ability to take initiative and defuse crisis immediately. * Highly organized and able to prioritize assignments in a deadline driven environment.
