More information about this job: Position Overview: The role of Director of Product Development for Video and Music at TV Guide Online is to act as a strategic lead and point person in the conception, creation and distribution of video and music products for the TV Guide Online websites. This person will become a product expert for the current video product suite (video players, Online Video Guide) and will take the lead in our new Music initiative. This requires a deep understanding of technical capabilities, features, and innovations in web products related to video and music. The Director manages at least one Product Manager, supports peers and assists in furthering corporate as well as business unit advancement. The Director will be responsible for developing and driving new video and music product initiatives, creating project plans (including business plans for individual products), working with the Product Manager, developers and producers to make sure projects are delivered to spec, on schedule and within budget. He/She is the primary contact for vendors, clients and other business partners, responsible for recommending product solutions, negotiating contracts and maintaining business relationships.

Responsibilities:

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES • Develop strategic product plans (with associated business plans) and roadmaps for web services and applications to create competitive, forward-thinking music, video and video search products at TV Guide Online • Work closely with other directors, managers and developers in matrix organization to integrate video and music products across our business. Support and contribute to other product-line initiatives. • Conduct market research and competitive analysis • Write detailed product requirements and use cases • Work with Engineering in the evaluation of product requirements and tradeoffs • Manage relationships with technology partners, both internal and external • Work with other divisions of The Company to drive overall growth and contribute to the success of our corporation • Provide sales and marketing support for all video, music and search products KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES • Five to seven years experience in professional web development or product management • Well-versed in product development processes, tools, and methods and how to successfully apply them • A proven track record of launching successful, customer-driven, consumer-facing products • Industry experience launching video, music and/or entertainment products and services • Experience with video technologies and Content Management Systems • Familiarity with Flash technologies • Excellent communication skills and the ability to interface with internal and external clients. • Ability to work under daily deadline pressure and on a wide variety of concurrent projects • Excellent oral, written, and presentation communication skills. • Bachelors or equivalent degree. MBA a plus.
