The mission of the Major Gifts program is to raise major gifts ($100,000-$1 million+) for schools, centers and university priorities. It is focused on undergraduate alumni and parents of undergraduates, and other prospects with multiple affiliations and interests. Reporting to the Director of Major Gifts inPhiladelphia, the NY Regional Director is responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining a fundraising strategy for the overallNew Yorkregion, including NYC andFairfield,RocklandandWestchesterCounties. The Director will manage the identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship process for the Regional Major Gift program, working with alumni, parents and friends of theUniversityofPennsylvania. This person will have direct supervision of three major gift officers and an administrative assistant. He/She will also collaborate with other development staff, faculty and senior academic leadership to achieve objectives. This position will be located in NYC.
The ideal candidate will have: strong academic credentials and an academic orientation that will be credible to donors and alumni; 7-10 years of progressively responsible experience in development, sales, marketing, public relations or a related field; with at least five years experience in fundraising, including significant major gift solicitation experience preferred; experience in managing and nurturing staff and volunteers; and experience working with individuals at senior levels of business and industry. This person must also be able to travel and work evenings, as needed.
