Description Dept Manager responsible for all aspects of Application Delivery in support of the Emerging Affluent business line (MiFi). This person will be responsible for managing major development deliverables within Private Client Service Delivery. They will manage development projects in the following area (directly or on a matrix basis): eCommerce web site, automated asset management tools, online tools, Emerging Affluent Data Mart, Client onboarding. They will directly manage a team of managers, designers and analysts that will face off against major initiatives and provide end to end design and implementation services. This person will need to work in close cooperation with peers in Relationship Management, Product Development managers, Shared Services, Governance and the business in a way that encourages open communication and a positive work environment. Guidelines: Manage approximately: 30-100 people, 3-8 Managers, $4-16M budget, $30MM project budget CLIENT MANAGEMENT * Build solid relationships with very senior level clients based upon delivery and trust * Ensure that the client has full transparency on delivery status, finances and resource allocations * Set strategic technology direction (6-36 month horizon) * Form the teams necessary and drive the delivery of project * Be the main interface with vendors for various components of the MiFi strategy RISK MANAGEMENT * Manage audit reviews; execute corrective action plans * Implement compensating controls for risk * Monitor risk mitigation progress * Execute crisis management action plan * Responsible for application of corporate information security including CITMP RESOURCE MANAGEMENT * Financial budget management for a single or multiple P&L(s) * Staffing Plan (employee and on/off shore development resources through a partner) * Expense Control * People development / talent management * Training, mobility, diversity, communication * Allocation of staff to projects / matching talent to need * Ensure productivity tools are in place. ADMINISTRATION * Routine Audit/CITMP policies * Support Legal and Compliance initiatives * Ensure all dedicated resources meet legal and compliance standards * Monitor overall project management tracking, using the firm’s standard tools * Exception Reports * GWM Technology Initiatives * Communicate, monitor and enforce GWM Technology policies and procedures
Specifications / Qualifications TECHNICAL SKILLS: * Vast experience designing and developing complex applications at major financial services firms. * An in-depth understanding of the critical aspects of major transactional production systems; scalability, reliability, service oriented architecture, distributed systems, etc. * Extensive experience designing and developing systems in both mainframe and distributed environments. NON-TECHNICAL SKILLS: - Proven capability to operate as a senior leader within a large IT area. Creates and maintains a positive environment of shared success, delivering for the client and respect for individuals. * Ability to directly manage and motivate a team of 30-100 development managers, designers and analysts * Ability to comfortably manage on a matrix basis, fostering an environment of shared success and respect with peers. Matrix management responsibility could be as many as 50-150 people. * Ability to educate people at all levels in a respectful and interactive manner. - A detailed understanding of off-shore development practices; decision metrics for determining when to use various sourcing models, critical success factors, standard industry practices, practice leaders in the industry, etc. - Has experience driving change across an IT area and nurturing relationships in the process of doing do. - Excellent presentations skills: ability to communicate technical proposals in a clear and concise manner; individually or in front of a group. Can sense the objectives of senior management and can get a point across quickly. - Able to approach problems as challenges and deal with them constructively and promoting this approach to other team members at the same time. - Can set an example for team members in the following manner: hard work, a focus on client delivery, preparedness, organization, a positive attitude and respect for others. - Knows how to effectively manage a technology department; P&L management, resource projections, etc. TRAVEL: Some 5%% - for vendors, etc.
