Department Broadcast Operations Location New York - New York Job Description The technician is part of a small team responsible for technical support of our broadcast post-production infrastructure. She or he will assume primary responsibility for first level night support to our Final Cut Pro, Avid, and Pro Tools suites in our state-of-the-art post-production facility as well as all Red Group and Broadcast Operations production workstations. The technician will install, configure, maintain and support non-linear editing, content creation, and storage system hardware and software. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (70%%) Primarily answers the tech phone hotline and supports end users of Red Post facility during evening sessions. Installation, configuration and support of Final Cut Pro, Avid Media Composer, Pro Tools, and various SAN environments is expected. Secondarily, the technician will support all Red Group on-air design, writer producer, and broadcast operations video production workstations. Technician will respond to end users personally, via email, and phone to diagnose, research and resolve technical problems on a variety of issues. Technician will be responsible for documenting and tracking problems, as well as communicating support issues to daytime colleagues, in order to ensure continuity and resolution. Some weekends or overtime may be required.(30%%) Perform preventative maintenance on production and post-production equipment. Responsible for hardware and software inventory tracking and some backup work. Will do limited research and development. Required Skills/Experience At least five years experience in post-production services for a television network or post-production vendor (or equivalent), as well as knowledge of broadcast technical specifications. At least five years experience troubleshooting current Macintosh computers. Familiarity with storage Area Networks preferred.

College degree preferred. Apple, Avid or Digidesign certifications are a plus.

The candidate must possess a thorough understanding of Apple OS X, Final Cut Pro, and Avid, as well as the fundamentals of video production and networking in order to provide competent end user support. Knowledge of SAN environments such as Xsan is a plus, and a basic understanding of Microsoft operating systems is useful. Command of broadcast technical specifications (video, audio, and device control) and working experience with SD and HD broadcast decks, scopes, cards and peripherals is preffered. The candidate must possess good troubleshooting skills and customer service, and demonstrate an ability to work with end users to solve their problems in a thorough and understanding way.

· Familiarity with basic networking, file and directory permissions issues. · Ability to read and understand basic wiring diagrams. · Understanding of basic A/V patchbay concepts. · Written and oral communication skills, as well as analytical and problem solving skills are essential.
