Description: The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, New York City Chapter is currently seeking an intern for the 2008 Spring Semester. Based in our New York office in midtown, this internship will provide a current graduate or undergraduate student with hands-on work experience in non-profit fundraising.
The Development Intern will support the Development Manager and Executive Director with chapter fundraising efforts including major gifts, foundations, and direct appeals.
Duties include: ? Updating Society database of donors and prospects
? Assisting with large and small department mailings, including the Spring appeal
? Assist in donor acknowledgements
? Assist in foundation and donor prospect research
? Attending networking opportunities to spread the mission of the Society
? Updating Web site content
? Designing an organizational system for department records
? May assist in event planning, production and promotion (depending on the time line of the internship.)
? Performing other related duties as assigned by Development Manager
Candidate requirements include:
? Strong computer knowledge, including Word, Excel, and Internet research
? Excellent word processing and database management skills
? Strong oral and written communication skills
? Strong organizational skills and professional demeanor
? Strong interpersonal skills and judgment
? Ability to respond well to guidance and supervision, coupled with the ability to work independently as needed
? Interest in non-profit fundraising, management and health-related services a plus
Commitment: At least one academic semester, 15-20 hours per week during business hours. The intern will receive credit for internship. Hours are flexible.
