More information about this job: Overview: Monet is one of the most recognized fashion jewelry brands in the world. Today, Monet jewelry is sold in major department stores, specialty stores and resorts throughout the U.S., Canada, Europe, the Middle East and the Far East. Monet is renowned for both modern classics, as well as exclusive designs featuring semiprecious stones, Austrian crystal and simulated pearl. Currently we are seeking an experienced jewelry designer to join our talented design team. Minimum 5-7 years experience, designing bridge or fashion jewelry. Ideal position for designers with a talent for interpreting fashion trends and color into brand appropriate designs. Must have experience working with semi-precious, plastic, pearl, crystal, metals etc. Complete understanding of design process, costing structure, manufacturing techniques and ability to execute technical drawings is essential. Work closely with oversees factories and internal product development and merchandising teams to realize final samples. Enjoy working in a fast paced, team environment.

Responsibilities: .Design and sketch original product ideas for approximately 200-300 new styles per market (4 markets per year). .Select materials and color based on current fashion and jewelry trends. .Responsible for all finishing details (closures, castings, manipulation components, findings). .Review and technically correct first prototypes and all samples stages in order to achieve final approval samples. .Design within given price points and categories determined by Merchandising. .Work with Product Development Engineers to achieve design results desired and highest quality product possible within target costs for brand. Adjust designs, materials, etc to achieve margin goals. .Work with oversees vendors via e-mail to communicate initial designs and resolve material, technical issues. .Research jewelry/fashion industry trends and accurately interpret for Monet. .Shop retail stores, search internet and trade magazines for inspiration and competition. .Present concepts/trends to VP Design & Merchandising, merchandising and design teams. .Travel to China to work directly with vendors.

Qualifications: .Understanding metal castings - Able to describe and manipulate metals to achieve the look and texture of what the final product should look like. .Technical knowledge of Materials - Semi-precious gemstones, plastic, metal, enamel etc. .Clean technical sketches of all views with measurements (top, side, back and 3/4 views). .Sketching abilities both technical and illustrative. .Computer: Word and Excel, Outlook, Photoshop, Illustrator. Other design software is a plus. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: .4-5 years of prior experience in jewelry design. .Possess a 4 year college degree from a design or art school. .Superb time management skills. Must be able to meet deadlines and keep team on calendar. .Excellent presentation skills.
