More information about this job: Overview: the design assistant is responsible for assisting the design team in all aspects of the design process and provide support as needed. the design assistant will be exposed to the design of all kate spade lines, including handbags, apparel, outerwear, pajamas, gloves, scarves, hats, sweaters, hair accessories, leather goods, towels and other projects as they arise. responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

Responsibilities: - providing administrative support to all members of the design team - archiving samples and material swatches - replenishing supply of materials needed for design presentations and help team prepare sketches, floats, etc. for initial design boards - preparing materials and arranging meetings with vendors, factories and other designers as needed - manage calendars for the team - ensuring that category stays on calendar as closely as possible - work with PD to send development packages to factories and assist in sourcing fabrics, trims, etc. - work with merchandising and sales teams to assist in determining sales needs - collaborate with creative on prints, logos, artwork, and graphics for certain products - find color standards and correct lab dips

Qualifications: - able to sketch both handbags and apparel by hand - familiarity with adobe illustrator - creative with great style sense - good sense of color - experience in either apparel or handbags - knowledge of working with different fabrics and leather - willingness to learn by showing enthusiasm and interest for the brand and the product
