Description: Copywriter Full Time Regular posted 09/12/2008 New York, NY Requirements Ann Taylor/Ann Taylor LOFT seeks a copywriter with experience in advertising, direct marketing, e-commerce, promotion or publishing, preferably with a background in fashion retail. Candidate should be a self-starter who is able to manage projects from inception through completion. The position requires a considerable amount of inter-departmental communication (with marketing, merchants, production, art directors, etc); therefore, this individual should be a team player who is able to always work in a professional manner. Position is responsible for the copywriting of direct mail projects, advertisements, in-store signage/requests, visual, web and special projects as assigned by Editorial Director:

* Adhere to brand and corporate copy style and voice * Responsible for the completion of copy in a timely manner in accordance with established time lines. * Write all product copy for all print and online merchandise and ensure its consistency with the brand image and appropriateness for target customer * Ensure accuracy of product information and copy * Collaborate with Creative Director and Art Directors on all branded communications * Partner with the Merchant and Marketing teams to understand product attributes that are important to convey product descriptions that are creative and accurate while maximizing revenues and reducing return rates * Have a working knowledge of general fashion terms, fabrications, and trends * Assist in the conceptualization and writing of Style Guide questions as needed.

Requirements include: * 5 or more years of copywriting experience and a diverse book of work: advertising, direct marketing, e-commerce, promotion or publishing, preferably with a background in retail. Fashion merchandise and/or catalogs preferred; editing and proofreading experience are important * Outstanding writing, proofreading, and grammar skills * The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication, organizational and problem solving skills * Must be detail-oriented and able to handle a high volume of writing assignments while under tight deadlines * Strong follow-up and research skills * Ability to work independently to complete projects * Understand the competitive landscape and keep abreast of fashion/beauty/accessory trends * Experience working with freelancers * Strong computer skills (Macintosh) especially in Excel and Word, experience with database tools and knowledge of Internet technology * Bachelors degree in English, Journalism, Communications, Advertising, Marketing, Direct Response or Promotion (or comparable work experience) and strong conceptual skills with knowledge of how copy relates to design, graphics and concept inspiration are also highly desirable.
