Description: Controller for High Growth Publishing Firm

Mid sized, rapidly growing media company owned by a Fortune 500 Firm, is seeking a Controller to provide a strong accounting discipline to its current finance organization. This entrepreneurial firm, located in Midtown, produces world class business information (both online and in print) and executive conferences. This position will report directly to the CFO and play a key role in all financial operations of the firm. JOB-RELATED REQUIREMENTS: • Manage day-to-day operations of general accounting function • Guide accounting close process to meet monthly timeline and reporting requirements • Lead annual budget and quarterly forecast processes • Prepare monthly financial statements, monthly management reporting, and quarterly board package • Oversee preparation of tax schedules and serve as company liaison to corporate tax department • Support implementation of Great Plains accounting software • Manage staff of three • Complete Ad Hoc reporting requests • Prepare and Review reconciliations and journal entries EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS: • BS in Accounting, CPA desired • 8-10 years relevant experience • Strong interpersonal and communication skills • Deadline-driven • “Get it done” attitude • Detail-oriented and self-motivated • Strong knowledge of US GAAP • Advanced Excel Skills • Adaptability and flexibility to operate within small business environment • Must demonstrate energy and drive • Quickbooks and MS Great Plains experience preferred
