Position Description Content Manager Employment type: FT Experience required: 5-8 years Education required: Bachelors Degree Position Description The content manager will join a small, entrepreneurial team within Dow Jones charged with launching a new consumer-focused digital business. The content manager will be responsible for leading the content development process, creating, updating and managing all content on a new site. The content manager must live and breathe the web. This is a unique opportunity to join a digital start-up business prior to launch. Get in on the ground floor to help shape the direction of the site and ongoing development. To thrive in our fast-paced environment, candidate must be flexible, highly motivated, team-oriented and able to deal with ambiguity. Responsibilities include: . Prioritize content development and design content templates . Develop new content features based on competitive analysis and customer research . Determine necessary content feeds, aggregation and web scraping tools . Determine content interaction with product features and optimize content formats with product manager . Define process for fact checking/updating and managing ongoing feedback loops . Craft regular content features, such as email newsletters . Hire and manage freelance staff and industry experts to create content . Identify Wall Street Journal Digital Network content appropriate for use on site . Manage ongoing survey and ranking table features . Liaise with editorial departments within Dow Jones and News Corp . Drive traffic growth to meet targets. Work proactively with sales, marketing, product and technology to define and execute new market opportunities and content enhancements. Position Requirements Position Requirements . College degree and a minimum of 3-5 years experience managing web content on a high-traffic web site . Professional experience in writing, sourcing and editing digital content . Experience in using competitive analysis and customer research to define new content features . Demonstrated skill in web research, gathering and understanding data . Good understanding of SEO best practices . Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced environment . Organized and detail-oriented . Outstanding verbal and written communication skills . Creative, dynamic and web 2.0 savvy . Experience with financial data and content feeds a plus . Experience with listings businesses, workplace information or user-review sites a plus [Internal note - most important thing is that content manager has a deep understanding of the web and doesnt expect to be a traditional news editor. Candidate may not be someone currently in a writing or editing role - could be a product manager or producer with journalism experience.
