Parsons is seeking a Construction Manager in New York City. Parsons is providing program management support to the Owner, who is in the process of developing a site over the Long Island Rail Road and Amtrak between Penn Station and the North River Tunnels. The proposed development includes four buildings in the area between Ninth Ave to the east, 33rd Street to the north, Dyer Ave to the west and 31st Street to the south. Included in the development will be the construction of a deck over the railroad and the installation of caissons to support the development structures. POSITION OVERVIEW: Manages all on-site field construction activities associated with the completion of the project. (Typically a project having 250,000 to 2 million construction manhours or a total installed cost of $50 to $100 million.) Applies a comprehensive knowledge of various disciplines to be used during construction, as well as the methods and techniques to be utilized for installation. Incumbent must become thoroughly familiar with required contractual obligations and technical aspects of all facilities to be erected. In addition to construction supervision, the incumbent is also responsible for field administration, procurement, and field engineering. Willingness to relocate to construction site locations is expected. Qualifications: 4-year degree in construction-related field (or equivalent construction-related work experience), as well as 15 to 20 years of experience in field construction is required. Experience in the construction of large civil/structural and/or industrial projects at domestic and/or foreign locations is preferred. Responsibilities of Parsons to the Owner during the Project shall include, but not necessarily be limited to site data review, review and comment upon design documents, review and comment upon budget and cost estimates, value engineering, attend meetings if so requested by Owner, assist the owner in obtaining permits and approvals, and additional services with the Owner’s prior written consent in relation to the following areas: · Project Management and Rail Road Coordination · Infrastructure · Systems Engineering · Civil/Utilities · Rail Road Systems · Track Alignment & Track Work · Force Account Coordination and Long Island Rail Road liaison.
