General Description: The Workforce1 Career Center provides New York City job seekers with professional career, employment and training services that prepare them to conduct successful job searches and enter their career of choice. The Senior Career Advisor is responsible for overseeing the career advisement and job readiness counseling component of the WF1CC. Career advisement and job readiness counseling is provided individually and in a group modality that incorporates computer based software and the use of the internet. The successful candidate provides leadership to four (4) career advisors, a workshop facilitator and a resource room coordinator. Individual must be effective in working with a diverse population. S/he will be a key member of a leadership team and must be able to collaborate effectively. Other Duties: • Anticipates new program needs and implements proactive strategies. • Utilizes a collaborative problem solving approach to achieve program objectives and resolve problems. • Develops strategies to strengthen performance. • Assists in the hiring and training of staff. • Provides effective supervision on a daily basis. • Establishes and monitors resource room services. • Designs and coordinates orientation sessions for job seekers at the WF1CC. • Designs and administers an effective referral system for job seekers seeking support services.Salary:$45,000 - $50,000 Core Competencies/Qualifications: MA required in a related area. At least five years experience in the workforce development/career counseling field. Must possess a professional demeanor with strong customer service skills. Demonstrated supervisory and administrative experience. Strong team management and leadership skills. Ability to multitask and satisfy performance expectations. Excellent computer proficiency, including knowledge of career counseling software products and related internet sites. Strong group and individual career counseling skills and ability to conduct workshops. Well organized, motivated self-starter with excellent oral and written communication skills. Bilingual speaker a plus. Position will remain open until filled.
