General Description: A research associate position is available immediately for a Ph.D.- level natural products chemist. The project involves activity-guided isolation and analysis of antioxidants agents from tropical fruits. Candidates with extensive experience in the isolation and structural elucidation of bioactive natural products from plants will be given preference. Other Duties: Help to maintain laboratory equipment, including HPLC, LC-MS, and NMR is required; Write research papers and presentations; Help to train students and other lab personnel; Consult with other researchers and authorities in the field as appropriate; Keep accurate, well organized recordsSalary:$32,000 - $36,000 Core Competencies/Qualifications: Have a Ph.D. in biology, chemistry, or biochemistry, with an emphasis on plant natural products; Intellectural strenght in natural products as evidenced in the areas of publication and research background; Demonstrate experience in various chromatographic techniques including HPLC and LC-MS; Expertise in conducting NMR experiments and interpreting spectra is also essential; Familiarity with Bruker NMR software is desirable. Hands-on experience with LC-MS is desirable; Ability to handle multiple assignments; Ability to work on a team as well as independently
