General Description: The Workforce1 Career Center (WF1CC) provides New York City job seekers with professional career, employment and training services that prepare them to conduct successful job searches and enter their career of choice. The Employment Retention Specialist provides follow-up service to customers after they begin employment to ensure they are successful in their new job. S/he assists customers in resolving work-related issues and gathers appropriate documents to verify employment. The Employment Retention Specialist also works with employers to ensure the new employee is performing satisfactorily and is retained in the new position. The successful candidate must be effective in working with a diverse population. S/he will be a member of a team and must be able to collaborate effectively. Other Duties: Respond quickly to customers experiencing difficulty on their job. Provide support services and resources for jobholders and employers. Develop strong working knowledge of local industries. Track referrals to assess outcomes. Provide support to customers and employers to achieve retentions. Utilize monthly reports to monitor success and implement strategies to improve performance. Motivate customers to resolve problems and persist in their jobs. Other duties as neededSalary:$34,000 - $40,000 Core Competencies/Qualifications: Bachelors degree in related area preferred. Preferred experience in the workforce development/career counseling or sales field. Must possess a professional demeanor with strong customer service skills. Excellent computer proficiency, including knowledge of career counseling software products and related internet sites. Well organized, motivated self-starter with excellent oral and written communication. Bilingual speaker a plus. Excellent oral and written skills. Ability to develop a rapport with customers and their employers. Strong ability to work collaboratively with a wide variety of constituents and adjust to multiple demands and shifting priorities. Must be available to work evenings and Saturdays as needed. Position will remain open until filled.
