General Description: Research Assistant for Archival Finding Aid Project

The Bronx Institute is seeking a part-time research assistant to develop a finding aid for the Bronx Institute Collection. Records were compiled under the Bronx Regional and Cultural History Project and are housed in the Special Collections Department of the Leonard Lief Library Lehman College. The Collection contains taped interviews and transcripts from the Bronx Oral History Project. Responsibilities include listening to/reading the interviews, writing brief descriptive summaries of each interview, and compiling the data in a finding aid suitable for use in future Bronx Institute research projects. Other Duties: *Follow protocols for gathering qualitative and/or quantitative data, coding data or information, constructing data bases using specified technology, analyzing data, maintaining data security and archiving data as needed * Keep accurate, well-organized records * Perform clerical/administrative duties as needed and other duties as assigned.Salary:$21 per hour Core Competencies/Qualifications: Graduate student with one year of historical research experience and interest in immigration and/or Bronx history preferable. Position will remain open until filled.
