Teacher of High-School Level Humanities (1 position) Teacher of High School Level Math (1 position) Teacher of High School Level Writing (1 position)

Background:

The CUNY Preparatory Transitional High School program (CUNY Prep) is a collaborative effort between the Mayors Center on Economic Opportunity and The City University of New York (CUNY). The program offers out-of-school youth between the ages of 16 and 18 an opportunity for full-time study for the purposes of matriculating to college via re-entering high school or by obtaining a high school equivalency diploma (GED). Our mission is to develop life-long learners who have the academic, personal, and social skills necessary for higher education, expanded life opportunities, and active participation in community and civic affairs.

Duties and Responsibilities:

All teachers will report to the Assistant Director and will be active participants in the development, implementation and assessment of curriculum. Teachers will work collaboratively with students, parents, and CUNY curriculum developers to support all aspects of the program, including intake, assessment and career and college programming. Along with school-wide collaboration, teachers will:

? Provide classroom instruction. ? Contribute to program and curriculum design and implementation. ? Mentor individual students through advisory function. ? Participate in planning for students transitioning to college. ? Participate in all-staff program and academic content area planning, implementation, and evaluation. Other Duties: ? Participate in staff development activities. ? Foster student achievement through supplemental work with community- based organizations.Salary:$42,500 - $50,000 Core Competencies/Qualifications: ? Bachelors degree in instructional field or education, or related field. Masters degree preferred. ? Three (3) years experience in education, preferably with urban high school students. ? Demonstrated expertise in classroom instruction. ? Experience in developing new and adapted curricula to meet student needs. ? Excellent writing and communication skills. ? Strong computer skills required. Position will remain open until filled.
