Description: Fiscal Instructor/Monitor Department:Adult & Continuing Ed Location:LaGuardia Issue Date:Friday, October 12, 2007 PVN Number:RIS-618

General Description: The Fiscal Instructor/Monitor will be responsile for conducting group workshops at Rikers Island to young adults on financial literacy (budgeting, time management, how to open and maintain savings and checking accounts, understanding deductions from a pay stub etc.) This staff member will assist the Administrative Director with accounts payable and payrol management and monitor budgets. Other Duties: In general, the staff member will work two days at Rikers Island and three days at LaGuardia. At Rikers Island, the Fiscal Instructor/Monitor will be supervised by the Project Director. At LaGuardia, the Administrative Director will have this responsibility.Salary:$30,000 - $40,000 Core Competencies/Qualifications: Fiscal Instructor/Monitor should have at least 15 credits (an Associate Degree is preferred) or equivalent experience of one year of academic courses or job experince. The person should have at least six months of fiscal responsibility experience or comparable college- level courses. Other skills include understanding budget reports; handling accounts payable, payroll time sheets and hiring packages; and using spreadsheets (Excel) to maintain the status of different accounts. This staff member should be self-confident, work well with people - especially with teenagers/young adults, and should have excellent communication skills. Position will remain open until filled.
