General Description: BEGIN MANAGED PROGRAMS EMPLOYMENT SERVICES UNIT Lower Manhattan
The purpose of FIA/ ES Employment Management Team Unit is to develop a network of partners with private sector, non-profit and government businesses and organizations that will serve as potential employers for HRAs client job-seekers; to facilitate the placement of HRA clients into long-term jobs toward the goal of life-long employability and becoming self-reliant. Other Duties: The Employment Services Coordinator under general supervision with latitude for independent judgment, reporting directly to the Assistant Deputy Commissioner of HRA/FIA/ES will:
? Be responsible for the direct supervision of the ES units Account Managers including assessing and evaluating staff performances; providing training, development and technical support to staff toward improvement of their productivity and work loads.
? Taking the lead in building an FIA/Employer Network by identifying leads for site-based and program area Employment Specialist to follow up on; identify potential job market fields appropriate to the targeted participant population; identifying potential employers in those markets and establishing a working relationship with FIA/ES
? Assist in facilitating the development of FIA/ES? Business Advisory Board by identifying potential board members from among private sector, non-profits, community based organizations and government office, all subject to the approval of Assistant Deputy Commissioner.
? Provide leadership in identifying and soliciting employers for ES Career and Job Fairs throughout the year. The purpose of the Career Fairs is to provide HRA clients with information about career ladders in job industries and initiate their entry and growth in their identified employment fields. Job Fairs are to provide employment placement opportunities for clients and will be measured by the achievement of targeted placement outcomes versus projected placements; the volume of employer participation in relationship to participant attendees.
? Working with the HRA Consultants and industry specialist contractors, develop training through workshops and site-based mentoring for Employment Team staffs: Job Coaches, Employment Transition Specialists, and contracted vendor employment staffs as well. In addition, identify appropriate outside training for staff development.
? Responsible for analyzing employment outcome data and recommending effective strategies for performance improvement based upon statistical analysis. Writing Reports monthly and annual reports; Monitor the tracking of Employment Verification Data.
? Assist in planning and implementing an ES? monthly Employment Team Meeting structure and in facilitating meetings with agenda and content subject to the approval of the Assistant Deputy Commissioner.
? Attend inter-agency, City, State, and community meetings as FIA/ES representative.Salary:$60,000 Core Competencies/Qualifications: Bachelors Degree required. Minimum Five years experience in leadership role in employment services or Social Services area. Staff supervisory experience required, with excellent organizational, management and interpersonal skills. Excellent writing and oral communication skills. Computer literate with knowledge of current business software applications. Must be able to work independently and results oriented individual. Previous experience working with economically disadvantaged population. Verifiable job bank, with recent community linkages and business contacts. Strong Analytical and organizational skills required.
