General Description: TheCreative Arts Team (CAT), founded in 1974, is the award- winning international leader in Applied Theatre ? drama as a catalyst for learning. CAT is in residence as a university-wide program of the nations largest urban public university, The City University of New York. Each year, 12,000 NYC young people, ages three to 21, participate in CATs interactive workshops on literacy, conflict resolution, AIDS awareness and prevention, and other important topics. Through CATs Kaplan Center for Educational Drama, 1,000 educators, artists, and parents annually enroll in our professional development workshops and our new M.A. in Applied Theatre, the first in the nation.
CAT seeks a Development Associate to handle a variety of writing and administrative responsibilities in its small, busy Development and Marketed Services departments. The Manager will report to CATs Development Director, although 10 hours a week of the persons time will be devoted to administrative support for Marketed Services.
The position is located at the offices of the Creative Arts Team at 101 W 31st Street. Other Duties: All responsibilities will be carried out under direct supervision of the Development Director, except where noted. Percentages of time are estimated and may change.
Foundation Relations and Other Writing ? 40%% ? Draft and edit, as directed, letters of interest, proposals, reports (when necessary, in coordination with program staff), cover letters, and other materials as directed. ? Participate in coordination with fiscal office for budgetary information. ? Assemble all backup information. ? Produce and package/e-mail all proposal packages, and track their delivery.
Administration ? 50%% ? Maintain and ensure accuracy of development database and calendar. ? Maintain and ensure accuracy of marketed services database and calendar, under supervision of Marketed Services Manager. ? Maintain organized and accurate physical filing systems for marketed services (under supervision of Marketed Services Manager) and development. ? Coordinate Development Director calendar and arrange meetings, as directed.
Advisory Council, Individual Giving, and Other Responsibilities ? 10%% ? Coordinate timeline and logistics of two mailings per year. ? Process all gifts, using CATs established procedures, and produce acknowledgement letters as directed. ? Handle logistics for 4 CAT Advisory Council meetings per year. ? Other responsibilities, as assigned.Salary:Low - mid $30s. Core Competencies/Qualifications: QUALIFICATIONS ? Bachelors degree. ? Two years? experience in a professionally run development office or comparable setting. ? Excellent writing, organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills and outstanding detail orientation. ? Proficiency with word processing, relational databases, and spreadsheet software. ? Some experience within a higher education or youth services environment is preferable.
