General Description: Job descrption for counselor position:

MGI/GU is looking for a part time counselor to work with our 9th or 10th grade students at one of our public high school partners.

Counsels MGI/GEAR UP high school students Helps conduct college readiness workshops Provides group and individual counseling to students Other Duties: The counselor will:

Hold group counseling sessions on teen issues Hold individual sessions with students who need counseling support Counsel students on college-readiness and career awareness Accompany groups on fieldtrips and activities Conduct presentations for groups of teens Assist the MGI/GU coordinator with a variety of adminsitrative tasks Fill out daily logs recording contact with studentsSalary:30 hours per week /$16-$18 an hour Core Competencies/Qualifications: Experience working with youth in NYC Experience working in public school settings Interesting in counseling psychology Enrollment in a counseling program at the graduate level or completion of a counseling degree strongly preferred Interest in college access work Strong writing and oral communication skills Punctuality and willingness to work a mid-week schedule during the school day Position will remain open until filled.
