Description: Coach/Counselor/Case Worker Department:Student Affairs Division Location:Lehman Issue Date:Monday, August 25, 2008 PVN Number:RIS-786

General Description: Assist with the coordination of Lehman College Athletic Training/Sports Medicine program which is comprised of 16 varsity teams and approximately 130 student-athletes. Work with our team orthopedic physician and Lehmans medical insurance program to ensure that our student-athletes are receiving quality care and rehabilitation.

Sports Medicine: Prepare schedules to ensure Sports Medicine representation at all home athletic events. Interact with team physicians servicing the athletic program. Ensure compliance with all University, Conference, and NCAA rules and regulations related to medical care for student-athletes. Act as a first responder for athletic injuries, treatment, rehabilitation, and referral of athletically injured student-athletes for physician care. Ensure that student- athletes are evaluated by team physicians to determine whether they are physically able to practice and compete in the intercollegiate sports program. Coordinate pre-season physical examinations with the college health center. Communicate with coaches regarding the injury status of student-athletes.

Insurance Administration: Oversee and administer the college-sponsored excess insurance program for student-athletes: Process insurance claims for all medical bills and expenses for each injury. Maintain up-to-date medical records for each student-athlete. Other Duties: This position requires being present for all evening/weekend home athletic contests and all CUNYAC championship events.Salary:27,845 - 54,715 Core Competencies/Qualifications: Bachelors Degree required in Athletic Training/sports medicine. National Athletic Trainers Association certification required with at least two years of professional experience. Adhere to the Athletic Training and National Athletic Trainers Association Code of Ethics. Remain current on all national requirements for certification. Position will remain open until filled.
