Exciting growth has created the need for us to hire a new Care Advocate to work in a field-based role in our central New York market. This is a great position for a compassionate and independent mental healthcare professional, and offers a more hands-on experience than traditional Care Advocate positions. The hired individual will manage both in- and outpatient chemical dependency and psychiatric treatment, and will entail both on-site and telephonic utilization reviews. Key responsibilities include: * Maintaining accurate, comprehensive medical records for program members * Creating care plans, and educating members * Escalating some cases to Peer Reviewers * Working with Network Services to develop positive relationships with providers * Consulting with members, primary care physicians and onsite staff

Qualifications Minimum requirements include: * Current, unrestricted mental health licensure as a PhD, Psychiatric RN, LCSW or LPC * Direct clinical experience with emphasis on acute psychiatric and long term care * Exposure to DSM IV-R and ICD-9 criteria * Typing skills and basic computer proficiency Candidates who also have one or more of the following will be preferred: * A background in public sector treatment * Experience with behavioral interventions and community referrals * Managed care or utilization review experience UnitedHealth Group offers a full range of comprehensive benefits to full-time and part-time employees, including medical, dental and vision, as well as a matching 401k and an employee stock purchase plan.
