Queens College / CUNY Office of Continuing Education Programs (CEP) offers non-credit courses and certificate programs in a variety of lifelong learning, professional development, personal growth, and enrichment areas. The Office also oversees the English Language Institute, English as a Second Language Program, and the Cisco Systems Local/Regional Academies and Technology Training Center. Students may enroll in individual courses or work toward a certificate or license in their particular area(s) of interest. Reporting to the Director of Educational Programs and Workforce Development, the Assistant Director of Workforce Development and Placement works collaboratively with all CEP Program Directors and Educational Coordinators and will be responsible for identifying and securing employment opportunities for CEP students, processing, tracking,placing, and reporting on local, state, federal, and corporate voucher students, as well as offering employment assistance and career services.

The Assistant Director will also be responsible for the organization of, as well as conducting workforce preparation activities such as job fairs, job search seminars, and resume writing workshops. Other Duties: ? Supervise the implementation and management of CEPs job development and placement programs, including establishing contacts with the New York City business community, hospitals, and non- profits, as well as other corporate, private and public organizations in order to secure entry-level employment opportunities and job leads for CEP students. ? Collaborate with all CEP Educational Coordinators, including the Director of the CEP Cisco Local/Regional Academies and Technology Training Center, to assist in job development and placement strategies. ? Research and attend NYC/Long Island Job Fairs and networking events related to student placement opportunities. ? Interview, evaluate, and refer prepared candidates for employment commensurate with their program(s) of study. ? Encourage the expansion of and manage voucher student participation in CEP; Inform and update federal, state, and local agencies about CEP course offerings and changes in curriculum and/or related policies and procedures. ? Remain current and familiar with federal, state, and local agency regulations, policies, and protocols for voucher students and adjust programs accordingly. ? Review and interpret federal, state, and local agency agreements regarding educational assistance for voucher students. ? Monitor voucher student attendance, milestones, payments, and consequent job placement activities for tuition reimbursement to CEP. ? Create and manage a database dedicated to the timely and accurate assessment of student outcomes with regard to their enrollment in CEP programs, graduation from certificate programs, career counseling, vouchers, and job placement. ? Assist in job search activities and retention efforts and monitor students progress by maintaining an accurate record of prospective employers and corresponding student placement for all CEP programs. ? Counsel and assist students in the identification of career goals and employment objectives as well as resume writing techniques. ? Organize, schedule, and supervise workshops and seminars on career exploration, resume writing, interview skills, and job search techniques and evaluate outcomes. ? Evaluate and report back on results of career fairs, placement initiatives, and student counseling activities; Submit reports on job placement and related activities to Director and appropriate agencies as required. ? Represent the Director at on- and off-campus meetings and events. ? Other related duties as assigned by the Director of Educational Programs and Workforce Development.Salary:$40,000 - $50,000 Core Competencies/Qualifications: A minimum of a Bachelors degree and at least three years experience in job development, career counseling, and working with voucher students required. Healthcare, technology, and/or vocational education job placement or voucher student experience preferred. The successful candidate must be able to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced and complex work environment carrying out diverse assignments and adapting to changing situations and priorities.

Must possess excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, and organizational skills as well as experience working with diverse populations. The successful candidate will be computer literate with a working knowledge of Windows-based applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint as well as database management and internet applications including the use of employment-related search sites.

The ideal candidate will be able to gather, analyze, and report student and voucher data as well as job development and placement activities in a comprehensive and thorough manner.

Driver license required and must be willing to travel to client offices as well employment fairs and events as required (reimbursement of personal automobile expenses provided per standard negotiated rates). Occasional evenings and weekends required. Position will remain open until filled.
