Position Description: The Catastrophe Forecasting and Analysis Department of AIG Domestic Claims, Inc. has an opening for a Business Analyst working primarily with the AIG Major Loss Event Process. The position is located in downtown Manhattan and presents the qualified candidate an opportunity to interact with senior level officers of the AIG claim departments. Responsibilities include the following: 1)Coordinating the AIG Major Loss Event process after a loss event occurs that involves multiple fatalities, significant property damage, &/or generates major media attention. Some of the activities listed below may need to be done in the evening or on weekends; 2)Conducting media research to identify entities involved in the loss event; 3)Conducting policy system research to identify in-force policies; 4)Communicating to a designated group of senior claim, underwriting and reinsurance staff on a timely basis; 5)Following-up with contacts for required information; 6)Preparing status updates for senior claims management reporting; 7)Identifying ongoing business user needs for product and service improvements and/or enhancements; 8)Overseeing administrative tasks related to the Major Loss Event process such as training new MLE contacts, maintaining a database of contacts; 9)Notifying a designated group of property claim, underwriting and reinsurance staff when PCS (Property Claim Services) issues a Catastrophe Code; 10)Assisting with the departmentâ?s other functions including the AIG Catastrophe Loss Estimate Process. Skills/Experience Required: 1)Ability to work independently as a resourceful problem solver, as well as within a team environment; 2)Detail oriented, organized, precise and methodical; 3)Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communicaiton skills; 4)Knowledge of property and casualty insurance claim handling &/or underwriting; 5)Experienced in MS Access database and spreadsheet applications. Experience in eRoom software a plus; 6)Must be able to handle multiple tasks and shifting priorities; 7)Prior claims or underwriting work experience a plus.
