Description: A major financial company, located in NYC, is looking for a Business Analyst to be responsible for gathering and documenting software requirements for the Retail Mutual Fund Sales, Marketing, and Back Office Operations business groups as well as guiding the translation of requirements through other phases of the system development life cycle. The Analyst will be responsible for communicating with project stakeholders on the business and IT side and manage deviations from plan; keeping all stakeholders informed as to status of the project. Other responsibilities include: escalating problems and issues immediately, coordinating user acceptance testing of the software, ensuring the delivery of user documentation, gathering and documenting software requirements for the business groups (Retail Mutual Fund Sales, Marketing, and Back Office Operations).

Experience working with formal project methodologies and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision are required. Candidates must have excellent oral and written communication skills and possess strong presentation skills. Experience working with test methodologies and tools such as Test Director is a plus. Proficiency using MS Office (Word, Project, Visio, and Excel) is required. Candidates must have a BS degree or higher with 3 or more years of experience in software requirements gathering in a financial institution. Candidates must be skilled at conducting interviews, facilitating brain storming sessions and JAD sessions, and other requirements elicitation techniques. The selected Analyst must have demonstrated ability to translate gathered requirements into functional specifications using industry standard techniques such as UML, etc. with proven ability to work well independently or within a team environment. Proven ability to establish and manage relationships with key business stakeholders as well as IT staff is essential. Mutual Fund Back Office Operations knowledge and/or Banking Back Office knowledge are pluses.
