Responsibilities: The associate designer is responsible for assisting in the design of all kate spade lines, including apparel, outerwear, pajamas, gloves, scarves, hats, sweaters, hair accessories, leather goods, towels and other projects as they arise. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: essential duties and responsibilities: -preparing sketches, floats, etc. for initial design boards and presentation and finalizing sketches for technical designer -work with Product Development to send development packages to factories and also to revise samples as needed; assist in sourcing fabrics, trims, etc. -collaborate with merchandising and sales teams to insure that line fits sales needs -oversee fittings and corrections, etc. before production -work with creative on prints, logos, artwork, and graphics for certain products -find color standards, correct lab dips -ensuring that category stays on calendar as closely as possible. -meet with vendors, factories and other designers as needed -assist the senior designers

Qualifications: skills and abilities required: -able to sketch both handbags and apparel well by hand -strong specing background -familiarity with adobe illustrator -creative with great style sense -good sense of color -experience in either apparel or handbags -knowledge of working with different fabrics and leather -willingness to learn by showing enthusiasm and interest for the brand and the product

Required Skills: - College degree - Minimum of 2 years experience in either womens ready-to-wear and handbag design
