Description: Posting Job Title Associate Broadcast and IT Support Engineer, NY BEST Engineering TimeWarner Division Turner Broadcasting Industry Advertising Cable/Broadcast Television Networks Online Content/Services Location United States - New York - New York Requisition # 97127BR Position Type Full Time Posting Job Description Qualifications: -Typically one to four years experience in radio and/or television, including troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of satellite, TV, and/or radio equipment and studio systems; dubbing; and quality control. Some component-level experience required. -Demonstrated familiarity with basic server, networking topology and operating systems (e.g., NT, Unix, Solaris). -Demonstrated experience with studio television production methods. -Willingness to learn Turner/CNN proprietary equipment and applications. -Manufacturer-provided broadcast training from Sony, AVID, Thomson, etc. -Two to four year technical degree, preferably electronics or computer engineering (or equivalent education/experience/training). Excellent customer services skills with attention to detail. -Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to prioritize and multi-task. A sense of urgency in solving customer requests to ensure timely resolution is critical. -Proficient verbal and written communication skills in order to communicate with customers, peers, and vendors. -Demonstrated ability to work in a team based environment to ensure 24x7x365 support for our customers. -Demonstrated analytical ability. Duties: -Perform repair of audio and video broadcast equipment. Under the general guidance and/or supervision of more experienced engineers, assist with repair at the board level (A/V routers, digital switchers, intercom matrix, graphic equipment, digital distribution and conversion, etc.) and component level (VTRs, cameras, audio consoles and processing, RF and fiber transmission, 2-way radios, microphones, monitors, CATV system, etc.) broadcast equipment (cameras, VTRs, audio mixers, lighting gear, monitors, 2-way radios, etc.). -May participate on technology installation and integration projects with complex, leading-edge technology in an increasingly digital environment. This includes broadcast equipment, servers, networks (e.g., routers, switchers), and other equipment. -Document quality standards, system anomalies, operational procedures, reference materials, and project work as directed. -Assist other engineers with on-site user support for critical/on-air newsroom equipment via direct contact with the client; back-up or assist BIT Production Support Specialists with non-critical news systems and desktop PCs, including installation, problem correction, removal/replacement, or other tasks as necessary to ensure continuation of customer work productivity and/or on-air transmission. -May perform board-level repair of computing equipment (motherboards, interface cards, hard drives, etc.), or assist other engineers with such tasks. -Monitor and adjust broadcast systems to meet accepted broadcast standards using diagnostic tools such as SDI scopes, audio/data analyzers, and other equipment. -Shadow/rotate to assist BIT Field Engineers in the operation of a satellite/microwave/RF truck and/or portable satellite equipment to transmit multi-path satellite transmissions (tape, audio/video) from remote locations. This includes equipment transport, set-up, operation, and breakdown and may also include truck maintenance. -Assist with broadcast and network-based equipment and systems installations, including the installation of cable and fiber.
