Description: Associate/Assistant Vice President Posted 8/8/2008 New York, NY
Responsibilities: * Production of daily P&L and ensure its accuracy. Products include, among others, cash equities & bonds, equity and fixed income derivatives (futures, forwards, options, swaps), fx contracts, repos and structured repos * Partner with the business in the structuring and execution of the transactions to ensure that all financial and regulatory requirements are met * Work closely with Middle Office to ensure proper system set-up and trade capture for all components of the structures * Perform the month-end general ledger close ensuring the proper legal entity balance sheet and P&L is recorded accurately * Support the Legal Entity Control function by taking ownership of certain legal entities created by the business to support the structure * Prepare financial statements and coordinate of financial statement audits across various jurisdictions (US, Luxembourg, Australia) * Liaise with other Finance groups, especially Treasury, Accounting Policy, Corporate Tax, and Legal Entity Control * Ensure consistent and effective application of control * Communicate and coordinate with European counterparts to ensure globally consistent processes and share best practices Requirements: * 4 to 6 years of relevant business experience * Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance, CPA preferred with a working knowledge of standards such as FAS 133, FAS 157, FAS 159, FIN 46 among others * Experience in cash and derivative products a plus * Strong PC skills including Microsoft Access, Excel and PowerPoint * Strong organization, analytical and problem solving skills with equally strong attention to detail * Excellent verbal and written communication skills * Highly motivated individual and team player
