General Summary The primary role of the Assistant Marketing Manager on the Godiva Seasonal Gifting business is to support the Marketing Managers efforts to maximize the performance of holiday gifting in the Godiva portfolio. Also, to achieve the sales and profitability goals established for Holiday Gifting. The Assistant Marketing Manager, Seasonal Gifting will acquire, develop and master the basic skill set that provides the foundation for a strong marketing career at Godiva. A range of responsibilities will be assigned to the assistant to insure that he/she gains exposure to and/or expertise in a wide variety of functional areas. He/she will be given challenging support roles on major projects, and the opportunity to manage and lead smaller projects to successful launch in the marketplace. The Assistant Marketing Manager for Seasonal Gifting is primarily responsible for assisting in all the activities performed by the Marketing Manager, including: - Development and management of 4 seasonal collections (Holiday, Spring, M-day, Halloween) - Design and development of the G Collection (a limited edition high end line) - The development and execution of the Marketing and Operating Plan - Support for the development of a long-term gifting strategy, including pipeline development - Management of the appropriate budgets. A significant part of the role will be to drive execution against products towards launch. This will involve managing a cross functional team and timeline management. A large need for the role is to be highly detailed oriented and to have time line management skills to effectively increase speed to market. There is a close relationship with the Financial team to ensure that all products are within established Gross Margin targets. A working knowledge of a P&L is helpful. In addition, the ability to think creatively, problem-solve and team-brainstorm to address/re-design products that are outside of margins. Additionally, the Assistant Marketing Manager should have team-orientation and organizational savvy since gaining alignment and working across a matrixed environment is critical. Finally, an important role will be to conduct analysis of the seasonal business as well as other Godiva products. This position will assess overall performance, identify opportunities, and justify new changes in direction. The Assistant Marketing Manager will support the Seasonal Gifting manager as well as the Gifting Teams in additional ad hoc analysis, as needed. Principal Accountabilities 1. 40%% - Project Support - manage Gateway process to insure project completion and adherence to timelines within Marketing, act as a liaison to Finance in the project approval process, lead project meetings and take minutes and distribute to team meeting attendance, coordination of meetings 2. 25%%- Project Management - manage development of promotional & training materials and programs, assist in the development of holiday collections (from concept to execution), coordinate with Channel leads and Creative teams to provide direction on packaging development, product development and other initiatives. Also assist in consumer testing to ensure successful proposition development. 3. 20%% - Data/Event Analysis - track and analyze the Seasonal Gifting sales on a regular basis, distribute post-season sales report together with top line analysis. Be fully trained in GEBIS and provide requested sales queries to support business decisions for the Seasonal Gifting portfolio. 4. 10%% - Create Brand Marketing presentations and provide support data and analysis for the development of the Annual Marketing and Operating Plans/Strategic Plans 5. 5%%- Budget Management - manage seasonal budget including invoice process & tracking, monthly closes, re-forecasts, accruals, etc Job Complexity - Support Marketing Manager in developing the holiday collection, the most important season and time period for Godiva - Opportunity to lead an entire season (e.g. Mothers day), or work on separate initiatives (e.g. G collection refresh, or Novelty launches) - Utilize available technology (GEBIS) and tools (Gateways) to convey information in a timely and effective manner, communicating issues and problems clearly. - Frequent communication with Finance and Merchandising in gathering, combining and analyzing available data, and making recommendations to managers - Profitability - SKUs that do not meet the companys Gross Margin hurdles need to be identified early and then re-engineered or re-worked accordingly to be approved for launch. Timelines are always very tight. - Design/Aesthetic - Collections have to be developed that bring a fashion-forward edge to the brand - prototype designs are reviewed with consumers and in-market sales data is collected to provide direction for change and improvements which need to be managed on very tight and inflexibile timelines - Consumer testing as needed to further refine and develop product propositions
Job Specifications Minimum education required: Bachelors Degree from a competitive university, or equivalent applicable work experience Education Desired: Business or related degree Years or relevant experience: : 1-2 years marketing/project management experience in a consumer packaged goods company strongly preferred. Experience in business analysis (financial, competitive, trend) highly desirable. Qualifications Knowledge, skills and abilities required: . General familiarity and comfort with marketing concepts and tools . Leadership qualities, and the ability to act independently (self-starter) . Detail and timeline process oriented; project management skills . Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills . Strong spreadsheet and presentation development skills (Microsoft Office) .
