With preliminary direction from a licensed architect, assist in design and concept development for competitions requiring expedited concept development and document production and all phases of aviation, higher education, healthcare, civic, hospitality, urban design/master planning, large scale commercial, public assembly/theater, and multistory mixed use projects (concrete & steel frame construction); verify and document existing conditions via field investigations, building surveys, and field measurements; translate clients functional and spatial requirements for structures into feasible design solutions, incorporating sustainable design principles and energy models to evaluate daily sun exposure, analyze heatloads, and maximize energy savings; prepare sketches for concept design presentations and presentation packages using 2D/3D CAD and building information modeling (BIM) software, including Revit, Architectural Desktop, SketchUp, 3D Studio MAX/VIZ, Aeroturn, AutoCAD, Flash, DreamWeaver, and Adobe CreativeSuite; prepare working drawings; provide research, planning, and design solutions, applying knowledge of design, construction procedures, zoning and building codes, and building materials; research code compliance for projects under applicable federal, state or local codes and regulations, including International Building Code; recommend materials to be used and assist in estimating quantities required; coordinate with mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP), and structural consultants to incorporate engineering systems into unified design for client and agency review and approval; coordinate with and represent the firm to obtain approvals from clients and state and local agencies having jurisdiction over projects; perform necessary modifications of drawings as construction projects progress and changes in dimensions, materials, and other aspects of design arise from client, agency or public input; apply architectural principles to review all related shop drawings, samples and mock ups; coordinate construction budgets with clients and contractors; process construction payment applications; respond to requests for information (RFI’s), review and respond to contractor change orders, and prepare record drawings; conduct site visits to observe construction progress and prepare field observation reports, final inspections, punch lists, certificates of substantial completion, and conduct post-occupancy review of clients’ use of space. Job Requirements: Bachelor of Architecture (five year) degree or foreign equivalent plus five years progressive experience (or Master of Architecture degree or foreign equivalent plus coursework or experience) to include competitions and aviation, healthcare, higher education, hospitality, commercial, and mixed use projects; sustainable design principles, including energy models; design development and design presentations using Architectural Desktop, 3D Studio MAX/VIZ, SketchUp, Flash, DreamWeaver, Illustrator, and PhotoShop; and coordinating with MEP and structural consultants to incorporate engineering systems.Cover letter, resume and work samples MUST be attached in order to be considered
