Posting ID: NN/049666 Description: High-level naval architecture, integration/interface design engineering, test plan and test procedure design and verification, and system performance requirements evaluation. Performs advanced Naval Architecture analysis associated with design projects.

Prepares work plans, cost estimates, budgets, and technical reports, coordinates tasks. Performs work requiring application of military system performance specifications, operating requirements, and interface design configurations for many functional areas. Capable of developing test procedures, evaluating test results, designing equipment operating specifications, and conducting compatibility evaluations of existing or proposed designs. May act as task leader for a specialized group of naval architects and engineers, or as a high-level consultant in specialized areas of expertise. Responsible for training technical support personnel in the procedures and methods required for successful design, test planning, performance evaluations, interface testing, requirements analysis, etc.

Skills: Applies experience to the functional area of the assignments. Plans and conducts work requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection, and substantial adaptation and modification of standard techniques, procedures and criteria. Requires developmental experience in a professional position. Capable of developing test procedures, evaluating test results, designing equipment operating specifications, and conducting compatibility evaluations of existing or proposed designs.

Education/Experience: Bachelors Degree in Naval Architecture + 5 years of experience in the field OR Masters Degree in Naval Architecture +2 years of experience in the field.

Physical Requirements: May require working in an office, industrial or shipboard environment. Able to climb ladders and tolerate confined spaces and extreme temperature variances. May require the lifting and moving of materials not to exceed the guidelines set for one man lift. Office environment normally encountered, with industrial/shipboard exposure to be expected on occasion.

Position Specific Skills: Knowledge of naval architecture and auxiliary ship design, including intact and damage stability analyses, hull girder strength analysis, local loadings from specialized equipment, ship motions analysis, weights analysis and margin practice, load line regulations and regulatory body requirements. May be required to obtain a DoD security clearance. Security Clearance Required.
